The William C. Walton Fellowship Programme is a student exchange program, founded by the International Council of Nurses (ICN). The aim of the program is to improve nursing education and health care in low-income countries through the provision of scholarships to students who might not otherwise be able to access university education. They will receive financial support for tuition, travel expenses and living expenses during their first year at university or college. You may also receive a monthly stipend from the end of your first year until the end of your third year of study.

Applicants who wish to apply should be first or second degree nurses, have a good command of English, be able to commit five years of service to their country’s health sector and have demonstrated leadership potential.

Selection is based on academic performance, descriptive essay on motivation and a supervisor’s reference. Applications will be considered twice a year and successful candidates will be expected to commence studies in August or September.
